Lifter

Anytime we forget who we are, we will always be in trouble wherever we’re at.  The Bible tells us that we “are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of His own” (1 Peter 2:9).  We should always deem what the Bible says about our identity as greater than anything we think, or have thought, about ourselves.  Remember, one is based upon truth (God’s Word), the other on lies (the world).

Identity determines everything.  The common denominator of every decision we make, whether good or bad, is our identity.  Every moment of stupid within my life is the revelation that I allowed my identity to get stolen.  Every moment of failure within my life is the evidence that I allowed my identity to be forgotten.  Identity is everything.

Lifter

There are just some things in our lives that we can never change in and of ourselves.  Some things require others to play a part.  “You’ll never succeed in life if you try to hide your sins” (Proverbs 28:13).  Many of our healings will be discovered in the revealing of our feelings.

Behind every self-defeating act is a lie you have chosen to believe.  Thus, if we are going to stop defeating ourselves, then we must stop deceiving ourselves.  For that to happen, we need to learn the truth about ourselves.  And we do that by being in God’s Word.  “There must be a spiritual renewal of your thoughts and your attitudes” (Ephesians 4:23).

Change is awkward – but so was my first kiss, and that didn’t stop me from doing it.  Therefore, just because change feels weird, it doesn’t mean it’s necessarily wrong.  I will tell you this: the person who insists on using yesterday’s methods in today’s world won’t be in business tomorrow.

Have you ever heard the words, “you’ve given me a lot to think about”?  God’s truth was not written to merely mull over, but to obey.  “Those who look closely into the perfect law that sets people free, who keep on paying attention to it and do not simply listen and then forget it, but put it into practice – they will be blessed by God in what they do” (James 1:25).  When God writes something – you can trust completely.
